All work starts with consultation.

We seek to fully grasp the ‘problem dimensions’, by the initial use of consultation with key professionals and (where appropriate) parents. We use problem analysis (Monsen et al, 1998) and the interactive factors framework (IFF) (Monsen and Frederickson, 2008; Frederickson and Cline, 2002) as a structure to organise and conceptualise difficulties to work towards effective solutions. The aim is to better understand the problem and make a plan to reduce the level of concern about them, thus improving the chances of positive educational outcomes.
